In the 90s, the late Ahlay Chin started her mission to end the stigma of mental illness in the Chinese - Canadian community, which needed education about the topic of mental illness and treatment options accessible to them.

Since then, the CMWAC broadened its goals to the general promotion of mental wellness and community empowerment. Today, continuing her legacy, CMWAC delivers its educational campaigns, events, youth and senior programs.

In 2023, she was recognized and awarded the King Charles III Coronation Award for her community work.
